An Aspirin a Day....Keeps Cancer Away?

Take an Aspirin to prevent heart disease... and Cancer?

#LiveHeartHealthy, whether exercise, diet or aspirin. More and more we are seeing that the same things that keep your heart healthy, can help to keep you healthy by lowering the risk of cancer, diabetes and other diseases.

Doctors have been recommending Aspirin to help prevent heart disease. But it looks like Aspirin may also help prevent some types of Cancer. The United States Preventive Task Force already recommends aspirin to prevent cardiovascular disease, and has recently added that taking an aspirin may help prevent colorectal cancer (see the full recommendation HERE).

But more evidence is coming out and it looks like Aspirin may help prevent other types of cancer. Some research has noted up to a 20% reduced risk of death due to cancer for people taking daily Aspirin for at least 5 years.

To be clear, Aspirin is not recommended for everyone and you should talk to your doctor or health professional about whether you might benefit. Taking aspirin can increase the risk of bleeding. #Ask your self if you could benefit, #Assess your risk of cancer and heart disease and #Act today by making an appointment to talk with a medical professional.

Below is a summary of the USPTF recommendations on Aspirin, Heart Disease and Colorectal Cancer. Read More Here.
