Locust Pose (Salabhasana)
Locust Pose (Salabhasana)
Benefits: Strengthens the upper and lower back muscles while stretching the chest. Strengthens abdominal muscles and the muscles of the inner thigh. Promotes balanced posture in the upper body.
Common misalignments and suggestions: Be sure to keep the neck in a neutral position by gazing a foot or two ahead. It is tempting to look to high towards the sky, crunching the vertebrae of the neck. This pose is highly beneficial for those with desk jobs. When hunched over a desk, the chest muscles easily become tightened, contributing to poor posture and pain in the shoulder and neck areas. Practice this pose frequently to prevent pain and tension.
