Benefits: Stretches the muscles of the inner thigh, hips, chest and shoulders. Strengthens muscles of the legs, feet and ankles.
Common misalignments and suggestions: It is not necessary to reach all the way down to the floor in this pose. If you struggle to grasp your ankle or your big toe, chances are you are rounding the chest and shoulders to get there. Better to grasp higher onto the shin or rest the hand on a block to be able to open the chest fully.
